These days, the detail is key to modern plant production; only those who carefully tailor all components are able to achieve effective economies, ultimately putting themselves ahead of the competition. With the launch of its new TEKU EP 1619/4 (4-pack) and EP 1619/6 (6-pack) cultivation and marketing trays, Pöppelmann (Lohne) has once again proved that careful thought pays off, bringing the grower added value.
Not only do the new trays ensure more reliable plant cultivation, they also optimise use of production and transport space, irrespective of whether the trays are being used by highly automated nurseries or smaller less mechanised growers. The excellent irrigation and drainage characteristics are effective in all situations. All individual sections have a pot base with drain holes at different heights, thus guaranteeing the best possible irrigation and drainage.
With the dimensioning of the new trays, Pöppelmann has taken great care to ensure the optimal use of shelf space on CC trolleys. 24 packs fit per shelf. With the EP 1619/4 this means 96 plants per shelf or 134 per square metre; with the 1619/6 model, this equates to 144 and 202. As the EP 1619/4 and 1619/6 models have the same external dimensions of 188 x 158 millimetres, and thus an identical footprint, they can be combined for production or transport without compromising the use of space. This helps to reduce transport costs.
The volume of an individual cell in the EP 1619/4 tray compares to that of a 9 cm round pot or an 8 cm square pot, while the 1619/6 model has the volume of an 8 cm round pot or a 7 cm square pot. The trays are 67 millimetres tall and come in black as standard. Thanks to their carefully moulded edge, the TEKU trays can be smoothly unstacked by machine. The material-saving design of the trays and the use of carefully treated recycled material in their production demonstrate the company’s concern for environmental responsibility.
With TEKU, Pöppelmann has also given a great deal of thought to the effective presentation of plants for marketing purposes. Carrying handles and photo labels can be quickly and securely inserted into the cleanly cut slots by hand or by machine. Once again, the identical basic dimensions of the 4-pack and 6-pack are a positive benefit. As the slots are located in the same position it makes no difference to automated processing which pack format is being used.
The many clever details show how much effort has been devoted to ensuring that TEKU trays offer growers true added value. This also includes the quality assurance and delivery reliability for which TEKU is renowned – optimal service and a true partnership for your horticultural requirements.
