Plastic tubes in three sizes are the latest addition to the standard product range of the FAMAC Division of Pöppelmann GmbH & Co. KG, Lohne/Germany, for applications in the pharmaceuticals and food industries. These tubes are already being used by the firm of Biologische Heilmittel Heel GmbH, Baden-Baden, as packaging units for 50, 100 and 250 tablets. Consisting of plastic tubes and stoppers, these packagings are distinguished by their outstanding tightness of seal, even after repeated opening and closing. The flexible spring elements of the stoppers prevent damage to the contents during transport and handling. The injection moulding process used for the production of the stoppers necessitates the use of complex demoulding technology to ensure their reliable removal from the mould without damaging the flexible spring elements.
Compared with individually designed, customized packagings, these standardized tablet tubes offer a host of advantages:
The tablet tubes are the latest addition to FAMAC's new standard range for the pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, medical and food industries. The purpose of this range, which Pöppelmann's FAMAC Division is extending continuously, is to replace the hitherto customary – and costly – practice of developing products for individual applications by the production of low-cost, highly perfected standard products for a relatively large circle of users.
As a successful family-owned company with over 1,600 employees, 5 production sites and more than 450 injection moulding machines, thermoforming machines and extrusion lines, Pöppelmann is today one of the leading companies in the plastics processing industry.
