A successful family history since 1949.

With its more than 1.600 employees, Pöppelmann is one of the leading plastics processing corporations in Europe. Over 60 years of steady growth and innovations in plastics show us the direction to future progress:

1949

Josef Pöppelmann establishes a cork manufacturing company on the parental farm.

 

1955

The processing of plastics begins with the manufacture of caps for the beverage industry.

1956

The first apprentice is trained.

1962

The production of engineered, injection moulded plastic parts begins, based on a continuously expanding mould making department.

1966

The first stock building is built on the new factory grounds.

1970

The TEKU programme is started with the production of the first plant pots.

A new 25,000 sq. feet production hall is built. The company grows to 110 employees.

1974

175 employees celebrate the 25th company anniversary by commissioning the 100th machine and the third production hall with an area of 38,000 sq. feet.

1990

The main plant at the Bakumer Straße employs 590 workers and has expanded to its present size with 13 production and stock halls with a total area of 570,000 sq. feet.

1996

In Lohne-Brockdorf, Plant 2 for the K-TECH production with 75,000 sq. feet of area is officially opened.

The introduction of a Quality Management system is certified.

1998

Plant 2 becomes independent: the Pöppelmann Kunststoff-Technik GmbH & Co. KG.

On a 17.5 acres area, the K-TECH production division operates 3 production and stock halls with 151,000 sq. feet.

1999

On the 50th anniversary, the company has grown to about 800 employees.

Over 330 injection moulding machines and 12 vacuum forming lines process more than 18,000 tons of raw plastic annually into high quality products in the K-TECH, KAPSTO, TEKU and FAMAC divisions. With subsidiaries and sales offices in France, Spain, England, Denmark, Belgium and in the Netherlands, Pöppelmann is a leading processor of plastics with a strong presence in foreign countries in Europe.

2003

The number of apprenticeship places increases to 125.

2006

With its new production building Plastiques Pöppelmann France, Rixheim now is operating in three buildings with 156,000 sq.ft (14.500 m²) in total.

2007

The main plant in Lohne, Germany (Plant I) comprises 18 buildings with 775,015 sq.ft (72.000 m²) in total on 56.8 acres (230.000 m²) of land. The first manufacturing operation in the United States starts up in Claremont, North Carolina. Building: 53,820 sq.ft (5.000 m²); Property: 29.6 acres (120.000 m²). The Pöppelmann Group employs more than 1.300 people.

2010

The number of employees grows to 1,500. Also, the 1,000th apprentice in the Pöppelmann history starts his apprenticeship program.
In the new plant 3 at Pöppelmannstraße in Lohne, Germany, the production of FAMAC products starts up. On a site of approximately 71,000 sq.m., the first two halls make up around 12,000 sq.m.
